Evacuation Orders have now been issued for the following residents and businesses at the following City of Kelowna addresses:

  • 1981 Gordon Dr
  • 377 Bulman Rd
  • 1824 Marshall Rd
  • 1237 Pacific Ave
  • 2002 Ethel St

Those people on Evacuation Order should report and register at the Emergency Support Services Reception Centre located in the Salvation Army Church, 1480 Sutherland Avenue (corner of Burtch Road and Sutherland Avenue).   It will close tonight at 10:00 and open again tomorrow morning at 11:00 to assist residents who have been impacted by flooding.   Due to a shortage of hotel space in the area, evacuees are encouraged to try and find temporary accommodation with family and friends.

The earlier Evacuation Order for 539 Sutherland Avenue has now been rescinded.

Flooding has forced the closure of several roads in Kelowna, West Kelowna and Lake Country.   Specific locations can be found on the map option on the www.cordemergency.ca/map website.  A correction from News Release 13 – in the District of Lake Country, Middlebench Road is closed in Oyama between Towgood Road to 13615 Middlebench Road.  As well, Beaver Lake Road is temporarily open. 

In the interest of safety, the public is asked to respect emergency road signage and blockades. 

Local states of emergency have been declared for the City of Kelowna, the City of West Kelowna and for the Fintry Delta in the Regional District of Central Okanagan to address flooding.

The following Evacuation Orders and Alerts remain in effect:

City of Kelowna

  • 543 Rowcliffe Avenue

  • 534 Sutherland Avenue

  • 1955 Pacific Court

  • 1915 Pacific Court

  • 1902 Lindahl Street

  • 1936 Lindahl Street

  • 1948 Lindahl Street

  • 1118 Brookside Avenue

  • 1122 Brookside Avenue

  • 1130 Brookside Avenue

This evacuation order impacts approximately 90 multi-family units, four single family homes, and one commercial property.

The earlier Evacuation Order for 539 Sutherland Avenue has now been rescinded.

Regional District of the Central Okanagan

The Evacuation Order issued yesterday for Fintry Provincial Park remains in effect.

An Evacuation Alert remains in place affecting approximately 90 properties in  the Fintry Delta area, just south of Fintry Provincial Park. Properties that are affected by the Alert include those in the delta accessed by Fintry Delta Road, Morden Road and Shorts Road.

Residents in this area should be prepared to leave their homes on short notice should conditions along Shorts Creek worsen. They may also wish to take steps to protect their properties from potential flooding.

Late this afternoon, the Evacuation Order for two properties along the south end of Lakeshore Road (6214 and 6490 Lakeshore Road ) was rescinded.   Residents are allowed to return.  There is no alert in place for these properties, however, if the situation changes the order may need to be reinstated.

Emergency crews and municipal staff from throughout the Central Okanagan continue to attend and monitor several areas impacted by flood waters.

People and pets should stay back from creek banks which can be extremely slippery and can be subject to erosion.   Be aware that water levels may unexpectedly rise.  Boaters should also watch for floating debis flowing into area lakes from tributaries.
